La Bikery
La Bikery is a nonprofit co-operative that enables citizens of Greater Moncton to choose cycling as a way to get around. We offered executive support services to La Bikery to help the organization gain stability in leadership to better meet its operational goals.
Members of the co-operative can access a full workshop to repair their bicycle. No experience is required as the organization provides training and support to help members through all kinds of mechanical challenges. In addition they provide workshops, group rides, and all kinds of other activities and services to help make cycling more accessible. La Bikery’s true aim is to reduce barriers to cycling and it centers its services in particular for low-income, immigrants & refugees, women, and other community members who aren’t always well represented in traditional cycling spaces.
We provided immediate interim executive director support to La Bikery helping them manage through a time of transition in 2020. We later helped the board of directors identify challenges in recruitment and retention and developed a short and long term plan for staffing. We provided recruitment and onboarding services for both an Operations Manager and an Executive Director. In addition we provided a training session for the board of directors to clarify roles and responsibilities of the board and staff to aid in a smooth transition of tasks and responsibilities.
The ongoing support we provided after hiring gave the leadership team time to adjust to new roles in a supportive environment. We are so happy to see this team excelling in their roles and are so excited to see what’s next for La Bikery.
